I feel Like I have extra energy just by wearing them!And they are so incredibly light that they make feel like I am walking on clouds!!! The only thing is the only last 100 miles for running in and I wished the lasted longer!! I liked them from the beginning and alternated running with them and Nike air max. I noticed pretty quickly that my times were about 1/2 minute faster per mile with the Spiras. Shortly after buying them, I read the book "Born to Run," a book that demonstrates pretty effectively I think that man is better off running with less foot protection to avoid injury.More and more, I run only in the Spiras, with some long runs up to 12 miles. I have had no foot blisters, knee, or back problems with the shoes. I now have approximately 600 miles on them and am buying another pair. I know some sites represent them as 100 mile shoes, but for my use, protecting my feet for pavement while keeping everything minimal, they are perfect and probably better than Nike Frees (although I haven't tried them.) I bought my first pair of Nike's in 1977 as a Sophomore in High School(Anybody remember the Waffle Trainer then the Elite?). That's all I wore until May of 2010. As I got closer to the age of 50 all the heel striking began showing up in nagging injuries. I had a stress fracture 3 years ago and a very achy knee two years ago. I started reading about the benefits of running only on the balls of your feet and bought the Spira Stinger Elite (the spring is only in the forefoot)in May of 2010. After my calfs got used to a new running form I have never looked back. Despite the claim that the shoe is only good for 100 miles, I have put over 400 miles on a single pair in a year and half. I have had no injuries and am running very comfortably for an old man (I turned 50 this year). Looking forward to competing in some senior olympics while I wear my Spira Stinger Elites. Highly recommend this shoe. |
